Trying to share cancer- related updates to my friends who are a source of support during my fight against cancer (lymphoma), but-

Have to have friends post on my fb:

[Olga’s account STILL RESTRICTED. My posts will be be lower on the feed for the next 24 hrs. due to some posts going against, “community standards”]

Really not sure why fb feels need to single myself or others out when i’m sure there are wirse offenders out there, perhaps those Not trying to Fight Cancer!

Recently i made comments on posts or in a group that were made with SARCASM & JEST about a person in a video or gif i have No way of meeting and then about a situation- not to be taken literally! Yet fb in all it’s power-gone-to-head “wisdom”, has “restricted” me from posting for 24 hrs. & from being able to participate in groups. My 24 hrs. are now up, but they STILL have my account/me as Restricted!?

It’s funny how they “police” some comments but allow more insensitive material to slip on by- people talking about harming animals, people talking about & doing stupid stunts that may influence & endanger others, jokes about assinated Presidents, rude comments from one fb user to another, etc.

I have cancer & update folks about how i’m doing via fb mostly- AND UNFORTUNATELY, b/c people i know are on fb. So to limit, or restrict my group participation & postings, effects my overall wellness, my mental health & ability to connect with cancer-related support groups as well!!!

fb, focus on NOT treating your users like little kids- you are NOT our parents or god, etc. also, learn to “police” more viable negative views & images- not silly comments made out of sarcasm, that are not made to be taken literally. Do you need to take English & Sociology courses?! I’m sure fb, you & your team can afford it…

P.S. hey fb, maybe see who is really part of team that looks at “community standards” that gets easily offended… also seems to me fb out of touch w/social media & images shown on tv- many of which go unrestricted, etc. Also noyice a lot of people posting on how they’re Restricted lately as well… I thought this was America?!

UPDATE: So it begins… anyone know of any cool wigs?

Hair- loss has started due to chemo and I’d imagine b/c of my low white blood cell count.

Thought about posting a pic of hair in sink or trash can, but I don’t need fb reminding me of it as a “memory” months or years later…

Can use my Go Fund Me: https://gofund.me/d3446068
or
my Venmo:
@Olga- Cisneros- 1
My picture is of me upside down.

I love this piece! I recently deactivated my facebook and you would’ve thought the world had ended! My friends responded with the following: WHY?! Are you okay? Is everything fine? How are you doing? You know you can step away from it, and then come back? You know you can delete people from it? Is there something wrong?

I have to admit I felt insulted, like I had to be of unsound mind to de-clutter my life with busy, self important talk which I find a lot on facebook. I think facebook has fallen into the idea of busy.

To be honest, I grew sick of how facebook seem to be more of an outlet for bragging, than about sharing and keeping in touch with others. Keeping in touch turned into- well, I “liked” your status- didn’t I? Or, it became more of- well, I follow you- that’s maintaining a friendship, right?! While I can see those simple forms of contact may be for the masses, it is not the meaningful form of communication my brain appreciates. I may as well go to a bar on a Friday night…

Sorry for the rant a bit there- just trying not to stay THAT busy! We are all busy and need to learn how to make time more meaningful in our everyday comings and goings.

It has been awhile… been on assignment with one job. It ends soon, so the game is afoot for something more permanent and with more reward.

I guess I committed a sin by deactivating my facebook, because from the way people reacted to my decision, one would think I cheated on my husband and had abandoned my children- I have neither mind you…

So, with that small victory, I am free to kill time by writing, and NOT reading a friend’s political littering, religious badgering, or how someone leads an awesome life & how life is good.

Now I can cheer on others like the dickens, but there are times I would resd my facebook and think- really? Oh come on already! We all get it- YOU lead a better life than I do- and have done better, where I have failed.

Nevertheless, am happy to be rid of the facebook monkey, though it take some getting some figuring out.
