The woman was wheeled into the emergency room,
the doctor said he’d be there soon.
Hours had gone by before he showed up and looked inside.
The woman had much to hide;
she’d been missing for a year but turned up
that day in the ER, her legs in stir ups.
Minutes after the doctor gave her his time,
a mousy nurse joined his side.
The nurse peered in, then looked up,
she looked as if she were about to throw up.
Then get comfy in that bed.
The nurse scurried over to tell her why
she looked as if she were about to cry.
But before she could say another word,
There was a thump, a moan, and a bloody groan
from the mousy nurse, dead by a gurney.
Half tired the woman screamed,
but no one came to her side, in her time of need.
Then, with her glazed over eyes,
the woman spied
four people in yellow Hazmat suits;
they converged on her from every side.
the doctor finally looked up and said
he’d be back, sit tight, relax
and
Her pupils widened then dilated.
Her pain was her only friend.
At wits end she thought, my god, not this again…
